  ceremony\, Rabbi Andrew Paley of Temple Shalom will deliver remarks befor
 e he lights the menorah. The lighting will be followed by a performance by
  Kol Shalom\, Temple Shalom’s youth choir\, under the direction of Mandy M
 onreal. Sufganiyot – jelly doughnuts – will be served while supplies last.
  \n  \nHanukkah is an eight-day Jewish festival commemorating the rededica
 tion of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt
 . The lighting of the Menorah is the most important Hanukkah custom.  Jews
  light Hanukkah candles to remember the miracle of the Maccabees' victory
  and the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days in the holy Temple.
  It is a mitzvah (commandment from God) that Jews "publicize the miracle"
  by lighting a Hanukkah Menorah each night during the eight days of Hanukk
