Celebrate Rockwall’s 171st birthday as the city commemorates Founders Day on Saturday, May 17. The free festival takes place both in downtown Rockwall and at Harry Myers Park, with a robust lineup of family programming that begins at 8 a.m. downtown and culminates that evening with high-energy performances by Will Jones, William Beckmann and headliner Josh Turner in the park.

8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Visit the Rockwall Farmers Market on the downtown square. Listen to live music while shopping fresh produce and specialty foods such as grass-fed meats, fresh-baked pastries, honey, jams, pasta and tamales!

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Join Rockwall Art League for a pop-up exhibit and sale in San Jacinto Plaza. Take in work from 15 local artists and enjoy plein air demos and hands-on art activities for all ages.

12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Partake in a wine walk sponsored by Downtown Rockwall Association. Purchase a wine glass, then go from shop to shop sipping samples from each merchant. Proceeds will benefit the Downtown Rockwall Association.

1 p.m. – 5 p.m. The fun continues at Harry Myers Park with experiences for the whole family! Expect bounce houses, a rock-climbing wall, a ninja course, a vendor market, live animal shows, a DJ and food trucks.

5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Experience why Rockwall has been named the “Free Live Music Capital of North Texas.” Kicking off things is Will Jones, whose sound is rooted in the country and bluegrass music that he grew up listening to in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. At 6:30 p.m., William Beckmann takes over with his singer-songwriter style influenced by classic country and the sounds of northern Mexico. At 8 p.m. Headliner Josh Turner takes the stage. Known for songs like “Long Black Train” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “Your Man,” Turner has five No. 1 singles and a global reach including nearly 6 billion streams.

A trolley will shuttle festivalgoers between downtown and Harry Myers Park from 12:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. For more information on Founders Day, including tips on where to park, visit rockwall.com/event_FoundersDay.asp.
