DALLAS (March 6, 2014) – When a person quits their day job (or their day job quits them due to a layoff or mandatory retirement), thoughts often turn to consulting. To help business experts transform their dreams of independence into reality, the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter is once again offering QuickStart, an in-depth training program for aspiring business advisors.

Training will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on consecutive Saturdays, March 22 and March 29, at 14330 Midway Road, Suite 230, in Dallas, 75244.

“Many people with functional or industry expertise would like to become a consultant, but they don’t know how to establish their service, build clientele and deliver quality results,” said Michael E. Egan, IMC certified consultant and DFW chapter past-president. “The Institute’s Dallas-Forth Worth chapter created the QuickStart program to offer a convenient and accelerated method to grasp the fundamentals of consulting and learn how to set up a successful practice. Essentially, it’s an opportunity to get advice from the people in the business of giving advice.”

The program consists of 4 modules:

1) Establishing your consulting practice

2) Business development

3) Managing client engagements

4) Setting up and performing backroom operations

The early-bird registration fee is $450 before March 15. The fee after that date is $500.  To register or learn more, please visit http://www.QuickStart.IMCDFW.org

PUTTING THE TRAINING INTO PRACTICE

With almost 25 years of experience in sales for Fujitsu Network Communications and other telecommunications companies, Collin County resident David Wuensch chose consulting as the second act for his already successful career.  The West Point graduate had proven expertise as a sales person and sales manager, with deep experience in sales strategies, account management and staff development.

“I wanted to get involved in sales training or consulting, but I was not certain how to go about that,” Wuensch said. “The demand was there. From my discussions with business owners, I could see that sales was a common obstacle in their growth. They didn’t know how to identify and select the right sales person or manage a sales program.”

Business owners are expert in the details of their business, not necessarily in the sales process. Many businesses have difficulty hitting sales targets, struggle to find the right sales people and get them aligned with the company’s sales strategy.

“My solution was to offer coaching, lead a client’s sales development and even serve as a fractional sales manager,” he said. “Our focus and execution on sales team development helps clients catapult their business to the next level,” Wuensch said.

Today, Wuensch owns EPOCH Sales Management Solutions, which combines his passion for selling and sales management with his desire to help people grow.  EPOCH provides the same sales development expertise that large companies rely on for success.  His services help put sales in touch with the best prospects, grow qualified leads, increase close rates and grow new and existing business.  The bottom line is higher return on sales time. His clients can expect to see a 30 to 50 percent increase in revenue within three to six months.

“In starting EPOCH Sales Management Solutions, I knew the four key areas were product and service development, business development, service delivery and administration,” Wuensch said. “The QuickStart program gave me materials and insights that addressed each of these key areas.”
