Altrusa Of Downtown Dallas Adds Two New Members

Altrusa International Inc. of Downtown Dallas initiated two new members at their club meeting today at noon, held in the City Club on the 69th floor of the Bank of America building on Elm Street downtown.

Catherine Butler, an executive trainer for the FDIC, and Kristen Wheaton, Director of Sales at Movie Tavern, are the new members. Membership Chair Antonia Buban sponsored Butler and Service Committee Chair Marcy Berman sponsored her long-time friend Wheaton.

The club's focus is community service in and around the downtown Dallas area. Its members are successful business women who coordinate their efforts to achieve greater goals.  In addition to raising money to give to local non-profits to benefit women and children in crisis, the club does volunteer work throughout the metroplex and enjoys social outings and an internal Book Club. Last week members attended the play "The Fortress of Solitude," at the Wyly Theater and had a back stage tour by one of the actors. The Musical Director, Kimberly Grigsby, was a guest speaker at the club last month on March 18.

Guests are welcome to attend Program Meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. April 15's program will focus on trends in women's health care. Contact Barbara Kennedy for luncheon information: bkennedy@shannongracey.com

This year's fund raiser, "Dessert First™ 2014, Chocolate, for Goodness' sake!" will be held on October 23at 3015 Trinity Grove on Gulden Lane in Dallas. The primary beneficiary will be Kids U, an afterschool tutoring program and summer camp for at-risk youth living in low income apartment communities.
