ADDISON, Texas – Oct. 18, 2013 – As the nation celebrates Energy Awareness Month in October, Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) administrators announce more than $500,000 in savings achieved through an innovative energy conservation program. The $552,811 savings is equal to 29 percent of the expected energy costs without the program.

“It is particularly appropriate to celebrate our savings this month,” said TCA Headmaster David Delph. “Energy Awareness Month is all about teaching people to make good decisions about the energy they use, and that’s what our program does. Today, every person on our staff uses energy as needed and is careful to conserve energy. By implementing best practices for energy use throughout our system, we create savings, enhance the learning environment and retain dollars for education — it’s good stewardship and the right thing to do.”

Three years ago, TCA partnered with Cenergistic®, the nation’s leading organizational behavior-based conservation company whose energy management plan has saved more than $3.2 billion for educational and complex organizations. Using Cenergistic’s process, TCA has created a customized and sustainable conservation program that has reduced the school’s consumption of electricity, natural gas and water.

“Passing the $500,000 mark is a significant milestone. TCA has achieved this level of success by consistently implementing the behavioral approach to energy conservation and maintaining productive efforts at all levels of the organization. The leadership, along with other administration and staff members are to be commended for clearly fulfilling their commitment to being good stewards their resources and the environment,” said Dr. William S. Spears, Chairman and founder of Cenergistic.

“We have wonderful people who see the value in being better stewards of the resources with which God has blessed us,” said Steve Williamson, Upper School teacher and Energy Specialist for TCA. “Every teacher, maintenance person and janitorial crew member does his or her part to conserve and save.”

As the leader of the conservation program at TCA, Williamson receives ongoing intensive training from Cenergistic® energy consultants. In addition, Williamson regularly performs building energy audits and trains personnel to control energy use whenever possible. All energy-using items in the system including heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, food service facilities, athletic facilities, offices, classrooms, auditoriums, cafeterias, information technology and computer labs receive ongoing evaluation for the best, most efficient use of energy while ensuring that the learning environment is at its best.
