"Reliant Lights Your Holidays" Event Rescheduled Due to Weather

Due to the inclement weather and threat of icy conditions, the AT&T Performing Arts Center is rescheduling the Friday, Dec. 6 event "Reliant Lights Your Holidays" to Friday, Dec. 13. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m. The lighting and fireworks will take place at approximately 7 p.m.

“We certainly understand that families would be hesitant to come outside in this cold weather to enjoy the lights, music and fireworks,” Doug Curtis, president and CEO of the AT&T Performing Arts Center said. “This is a wonderful community event. We’d rather move it to next week so everyone can get excited about coming here to the Center to have a great time.”

The rescheduling means some of the entertainment lineup may change. However, the snow play land, crafts area, Reliant holiday photo stage and more will also take place. More details on the evening’s program will be announced next week.

"Reliant Lights Your Holidays" is a new holiday tradition for the Center and for Dallas. Next Friday, the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre and 72 trees in Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park will be illuminated with 250,000 energy efficient LEDs for the holiday season. Reliant’s sponsorship of this event inaugurates a three-year partnership with the Center for this extensive holiday showcase. Reliant is the official energy provider of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, and the holiday event represents an opportunity for Reliant to be part of the larger Dallas community.

Southwest Airlines is sponsoring the concert and fireworks show. In addition to food trucks, Southwest Porch will offer drinks, snacks and a place to relax. Pearl Cup Coffee will also be open in the Information Center.

Immediately following the lighting ceremony next Friday, several performances will take place in the Arts District. The Gershwin’s "Porgy and Bess" in the Winspear Opera House; Dallas Theater Center’s new production of "A Christmas Carol" – the first time the classic production has been performed in the Wyly Theatre; the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will perform its Christmas Celebration at the Meyerson Symphony Center; and the Turtle Creek Chorale will be performing in Dallas City Performance Hall.
