DALLAS - May 7, 2014 –  Candlewick Press and Borden Dairy today announced Judy Moody and Stink’s “Mooo-dy Summer Mania” summer reading campaign. From June 9 through July 31, 2014, Candlewick Press will provide Borden Dairy customers with a selection of Judy Moody and Stink downloads including an original, exclusive Judy Moody short story by Megan McDonald.

During the “Mooo-dy Summer Mania” reading campaign, over 1.5 million cartons of Borden® milk will feature Judy Moody and Stink on the labels alongside the iconic Elsie the Cow. Customers will be able to purchase half gallons of Borden® milk at more than 1000 stores throughout Borden’s distribution area, including Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and more. Throughout the campaign, which was crafted by bloomfield knoble, inc., Borden customers will use codes found on the peel-away milk label of specially marked half gallon containers to download Judy Moody and Stink short stories – including an exclusive new story – as well as sample chapters and activities at At the website, fans can also enter the Way-Cool Sweepstakes for a chance to win the entire Judy Moody and Stink hardcover collection – more than 20 books(!) – signed by author Megan McDonald and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds, and other prizes.

“When I was a kid, every Saturday morning, a real milkman came to our door and delivered milk in glass bottles,” says author Megan McDonald. “I still remember peeling back the tin foil lid and drinking that first glass of cold milk, complete with cookie dunking. Soon, quiet descended over the usually talkative McDonald sisters as we read books and sipped that first glass of milk. Reading is what made me a writer. Thank you, Borden, for joining with me, and Judy Moody and Stink, in helping to make readers.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Candlewick Press to share the imaginative and always entertaining world of Judy Moody and Stink with Borden customers,” said Jenica Oliver, director of marketing at Borden. “By providing the calcium, protein and Vitamin D that growing kids need, Borden supports healthy minds and healthy bodies. With the launch of MOOO-dy Summer Mania, our customers will have the opportunity to encourage their children to read and grow with the purchase of each Borden half gallon.”

Judy Moody is a third-grader, avid collector, Saver of the Planet, and future doctor . . . but most of all, she is famous for her many moods. She and her pesky little “bother,” Stink, star in the wildly popular and award-winning Judy Moody and Stink series for middle-grade readers written by Megan McDonald, illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, and published by Candlewick Press; including the new full-color adventure, Judy Moody and Stink: The Big Bad Blackout. In addition to three novels featuring the brother-sister duo together, there are twelve books in the New York Times bestselling Judy Moody series, including the upcoming Judy Moody, Mood Martian, which comes out in August. The ninth book in the Stink series, Stink and the Shark Sleepover, released in Feb. 2014. Also new for 2014 was the launch of the Judy Moody & Friends series for newly independent readers.

There are 25.8 million Judy Moody and Stink books in print worldwide. They have been translated into 26 languages worldwide, including  Basque, Slovene and Icelandic. In the US, the books have garnered 35 awards and honors, including the first-ever Beverly Cleary Children’s Choice Award, a Publishers Weekly Best Children’s Book of the Year Award, two American Library Association Notable Children’s Book awards, two American Library Association Great Early Elementary Reads, and two Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Awards and were named three times as Children’s Choices from the International Reading Association and the Children’s Book Council.
