Power Granola Adds Flavor and Philanthropy to Walmart Shelves
(DALLAS) August 27, 2014 - Tamara Hext Hilliard, the Dallas/Fort Worth-based granola queen, today announced the debut of Tay’s Gourmet Granola in more than 200 Walmart locations throughout Texas including Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and Beaumont. As a Children’s Hunger Fund partner, each bag of Power Granola provides a meal for a child in need.
Children’s Hunger Fund will use proceeds from all Tay’s Gourmet’s purchases to donate meals to less fortunate children both locally and internationally. The organization uses local churches across the United States to deliver ‘Food Paks’ directly to the homes of struggling children and families in their communities.
Tay’s Gourmet is the brainchild of Tamara Hext Hilliard, Miss Texas 1984. Since her pageant days, Hilliard has been an actress, national health club spokesperson, television host and self-published author. When she started cooking up her own granola to fuel her workouts as a Power Vinyasa Yoga instructor, she realized her granola hobby could become much more.
“I wanted a simple snack that would be easy to enjoy on the go, but most granolas were heavy with added sugar and mostly made of oats alone. I started mixing my own batches of granola with whole roasted nuts, flax seeds and different dried fruits. After rave reviews and increasing demand from my friends and family, I realized I had something special,” said Hilliard.
The granola’s salty-sweet spin on healthier snacking has made Tay’s Gourmet so popular that Hilliard will now be able to test her product in select Walmart locations throughout Texas on a large, center aisle display.
Power Granola comes in four wholesome flavors that are delicious alone or served with yogurt. Our cranberry nut crunch flavor is seedy and toasty with nuts, dried cranberries, flax seeds and plenty of filling fiber. The blueberry coco-nutty crunch is salty and sweet with coconut chips and whole pecans. The nut-free power berry is loaded with strawberries, cherries, cranberries and blueberries and the banana pecan crunch is packed with whole almonds and banana chips.
