Justin Thompson Senior at TCA

Justin Thompson, a 17-year-old senior at Trinity Christian Academy (TCA), recently became the youngest golfer to be granted the Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) Byron Nelson Award. This award is given to someone who displays extraordinary sportsmanship, shows great respect for the game of golf and devotes tremendous effort in giving back to the game. As a two-time cancer survivor, Justin was awarded for the difficult path he overcame to become a successful athlete in all aspects of the game.

Justin says that had it not been for his cancer diagnosis, he never would have picked up the game of golf. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 10-years-old and skin cancer at 14-years-old. Now, he has made numerous accomplishments as a player with plans to graduate and golf for SMU.

His diagnosis and battle inspired him to give back to the community. He is now an avid participant in the NTPGA's Birdie for Kids fundraiser, an event which has raised over $1.2 million for various local children's charities in the Dallas area. In two years, Thompson has raised over $25,000 for the community.

Coach Morrill, who also serves as TCA’s Upper School Head, has one State Championship, winning the TAPPS 5A title in 2001. All of Morrill’s victories have been at TCA.

Varsity Boys Head Coach and Carrollton resident Randy Feemster joined the 300-win club with a 51-36 win over Plano on November 23 in the Frisco Lone Star Classic. Feemster has one State Championship title, claimed in 2009 in TAPPS class 5A. Coach Feemster began his career at TCA as an assistant in 2002 and became the head coach in 2005. He achieved all but 64 of his wins at TCA; the others came from his time as head coach of the Irving Tigers.

Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) kindergarteners spent time with their pen pals at the nature park near the school to explore nature and participate in hands-on learning activities. After studying leaves in the classroom, the students spent the morning identifying different types and parts of leaves.
TCA established the pen pal program about 15 years ago to help bring students together. Throughout the year, students and their pen pals read stories together, complete science experiments and partake in various other activities. Over the holidays, the students will meet together to fill bags of food for those in need and put on a Christmas puppet show.
